Vincent takes out first Hampton Downs round - 7-Feb-2010
With names like Hulme, Amon and McLaren engraved into the historic motorsport circuits around New Zealand – this weekend was the dawning of a new age, as the new generation has been given a ‘blank canvas’ – a chance to put the first strokes of ink onto what will no doubt be a colorful future, at the new Hampton Downs circuit.
After a round win in mostly wet conditions last time, Andrew Vincent continued his form, this time in the sweltering heat, as he took two victories and the lap record in the Dodson’s Autospares/Squawking magpie machine on the way to taking out the round.
In race 3 veteran and reigning champ Ian Foster prevailed in what would once again go down as one of the best, not to mention closest races this year, as the top three would be covered by 0.074 of a second at the line.
