Hodgson closes the gap @ round 7
 - 8-Mar-2010

In a weekend full of classic Weldwell New Zealand formula first action, it was Speedsport scholarship winner Aaron Hodgson who took out “Thunder in the Dark II”.

With two out of three wins, Hodgson risked it all to enhance his opportunity at the 2009/10 champioship title, with Michael Shepherd’s points lead now under one race victory.  Shepherd stayed within fighting distance in the go rentals/Invo8 Challenge throughout the event, as he scored top four finishes to maintain a decent points lead.

With Hodgson taking out races 1 & 3, it was returning champ Ian Foster who would be victorious in race 2, once again showcasing the skills in the Kaeser Compressors/Plummer Pneumatics Challenge that put the number one on his car.

The two other young drivers in contention for the victories, Andrew Vincent and Jamie Gaskin continued their form from the last rounds, with Vincent taking second overall for the round in the Dodson’s Autospares/Squawking Magpie wines machine - with two seconds and a third.

Gaskin also continued to improve, consistently setting front running lap times in the Lascom NZ/Macbuilt engineering car while running with the championship contenders.
