🥇 Liam Nicholson
🥈 Chris Symon +0.050
🥉 Cooper Prout +0.648

Nicholson controlled the race well to secure the win, with Chris Symon finishing just 0.050 seconds behind in a very close battle for the top step. Cooper Prout rounded out the podium, finishing +0.648 behind the leader after another strong performance.

The race was not drama free with Liam Foster and Cooper Insley coming together ahead of Turn 1, resulting in a red flag stoppage mid-way through the race while the incident was cleared.

A massive effort also came from the Saber team, who completed a record engine change between races to get Yoshi back on the grid after the previous race. The quick turnaround under pressure was an impressive team effort to ensure the car was ready to race again.

Time to re-group and prepare for another round in Timaru this Saturday.

The NZ Formula First community extends its deepest The NZ Formula First community extends its deepest condolences to the Lester family.

Richard was a racer, sponsor, and a lifelong supporter of our class. His passion for Formula First and for the people within it made a lasting impact on our community.

Through Vortex Racewear, Richard and the Lester family generously supported the class for many years as our naming right sponsor, and continue to look after our drivers to this day. Their commitment has helped countless competitors over the years.

The Lester family represents a true multi-generation racing family within Formula First, and Richard’s legacy will live on through the many memories, friendships, and shared passion for racing that he helped create. Richard’s son, Jono, continues to race internationally, while his father Rob remains our Formula Vee club patron. Rob and Wendy (mum) were the driving force behind the inception and running of Manfeild. Richard’s sister, Debbie, also successfully raced in Vee’s.

Our thoughts are with the Lester family at this difficult time. While we know you will be grieving, we also know there are many special memories to share from a life deeply connected to the sport we all love.

From everyone in the NZ Formula First community, we send our heartfelt sympathy and support.
