Dylan Grant has won race six of the 2021-22 Hi-Q Components NZ Formula First Championship at Manfeild Circuit Chris Amon. Not only did Grant take victory, but he reset the NZ Formula First lap record for the circuit, with a 1:22.218, beating Michael Shepherd’s 1:22.597 set in 2009.
Grant’s record pace saw him stretch away from the field to win by 9.3-seconds. Chris Symon consolidated with second place again, but not without challenge from Mason Potter. Potter was just 0.03-seconds behind Symon at the chequered flag, finishing in third.
Jensen Foster finished a distant fourth place, with Mauro Iglesias hot on his gearbox in fifth. Blake Dowdall came him in sixth ahead of Hayden Lines in seventh.
Crossing the line in eighth place was SpeedSport Scholarship driver Jensen Bate with Liam Nicholson ninth and Cory Silk tenth.
After a drive-through penalty, Zach Blincoe finished a down the order in 11th place. Darren Henderson finished in 12th ahead of Jack Groenewald in 13th and Daniel Peterson in 14th.
