Chris Symon has stormed to a convincing pole position at round five of the Hi-Q Components NZ Formula First Championship at Hampton Downs. Symon set a blistering 1:19.896s lap time, 0.804s faster than the championship leader Reece Hendl-Cox who was second fastest.
Liam Foster will start on the second row of the grid after setting a time just 0.004s off a front-row start. After an all-night engine rebuild for her team, Amy Smith will start alongside Foster on the second row in fourth.
Leo Scott was the best of the rookies in fifth place ahead Ron Carter and Kyan Davie. Asten Addy was the next rookie in eighth ahead of his rookie rivals Matthew McCutcheon and Bree Morris in ninth and tenth.
Braeden Snowden, Liam Nicholson and Cullen Curtis rounded out the field.
