Chris Symon has claimed pole position for the round three of the 2020-21 Hi-Q Components NZ Formula First Championship by less than one-tenth of a second at Pukekohe Park.
Just 0.088 separated Symon and Amy Smith who will also start the race from the front row. The pair set a 1:21.210 and 1:21.298 respectively.
Another tenth of a second back was Brody McConkey who was third fastest and will start alongside fourth-placed Liam Foster.
The rookie trio of Leo Scott, Zac Blincoe, and Louis Sharp were in a tight battle for fifth place with all three separated by just 0.05s. The trio finishing the session in fifth, sixth and seventh respectively.
Hayden Bakkerus finished in eighth, 0.3s slower the drivers ahead. Liam Nicholson and Toby McCormack will round out the top ten, starting from ninth and tenth on the grid.
Sabre Motorsport’s Dylan Grant and Jamie Newton will start 11th and 12th in this afternoons race. The pair were split by only a tenth of a second.
Jensen Foster and Rob Baker rounded out the grid in 13th and 14th.
