Crawley strikes back with win

Callum Crawley has answered Kaleb Ngatoa’s championship lead regaining win yesterday, with a championship lead regaining win this morning! Kaleb Ngatoa just pipped Conrad Clark for second, leaving Crawley with a one point advantage in the championship!

Off the start It was Ngatoa who got the advantage, leading Crawley and Clark out of turn one. The pole-sitting Reece Hendl-Cox, unfortunately, dropped a couple of spots, leaving him on the back foot for the opening part of the race.

Brody McConkey joined in the podium battle the next lap, slotting into third in line as part of the super tight top five train. The battle stepped up a notch the following lap when the top three all fanned out three wide, nearly off the track down the main straight.

Crawley inherited an almost unassailable lead on lap five when Clark was squeezed by Brody McConkey and Ngatoa at splash, inducing a huge wobble for the SpeedSport Scholarship driver. The gap to Crawley left the remainder of the field to fight for second place as a train from second to tenth formed.

The tussle for second came down to Clark, Ngatoa and Hendl-Cox with the trio nearly exchanging paint throughout the entire lap. The final lap saw Hendl-Cox fall out of the battle at turn one as he dropped multiple spots while Ngatoa and Clark ran side by side through splash which saw Clark having to use the grass. Hendl-Cox then lost more positions as he ran wide again out of the hairpin, eventually finishing tenth.

Ngatoa would claim second ahead of Clark who just beat Liam Foster to third. Billy Frazer recorded a solid fifth ahead of McConkey, Taylor Hurst, Chris Symon, Amy Smith and Hendl-Cox. The battle pack for 11th saw Travis Day take the spot with Blake Evans, Louis Redshaw, Bob Dillow and Alex Hawley close behind him.

An opening lap incident in which Shaun Logan spun and collected Andrew Tierney saw the pair finish a distant 16th and 17th respectively.
