Dylan Grant has picked up where he left off last as he convincingly set the fastest lap of qualifying for Round 2 of the 2021-22 Hi-Q Components NZ Formula First Championship. Grant was 0.681s faster than local racer and reigning Champion Chris Symon at Manfeild Circuit Chris Amon.
Symon was the only driver who looked like challenging Grant at the season opener at Hampton Downs a fortnight ago, but despite the home track advantage, wasn’t able outpace the youngster in qualifying.
Starting off the second row with the third fastest time is rookie racer Blake Dowdall. Dowdall, who was 0.442s off Symon, will start along side Mason Potter.
Hayden Line will start from with place with Zach Blincoe sixth. Jensen Foster will start from seventh place with Mauro Iglesias along side him in eighth. Liam Nicholson and series returnee Cory Silk rounded out the top ten.
SpeedSport Scholarship driver Jensen Bate qualified in 11th and will have seasoned campaigner and series returnee Darren Henderson starting alongside him in 12th.
Jack Groenewald and Daniel Peterson will start from 13th and 14th respectively.
