Dylan Grant has won race five of the 2021-22 NZ Formula First Championship by a considerable margin at Manfeild Circuit Chris Amon. Grant and Chris Symon broke away from the field early on in the race despite engaging in their own battle for the lead. Symon then lost the back of Grant with two laps to go, leaving Grant to win by 2.1s.
A massive 20s behind second-placed Symon was Zach Blincoe. Blincoe came home in third, also with a considerable gap behind him to fourth place.
Jensen Bate, after starting 11th, moved up to finish in fourth. Bate, Liam Nicholson and Jensen Foster fought for the fourth placing, but Bate would have the advantage at the drop of the chequered flag ahead of Nicholson and Foster. Hayden Lines finished in seventh place ahead of Mauro Iglesias.
Darren Henderson and Jack Groenewald rounded out the top ten in ninth and tenth place respectively. Mason Potter dropped down the order after starting in fourth place to finish 11th. Daniel Peterson improved a few spots to finish 12th with Cory Silk 13th. Blake Dowdall did not finish the race.
