Foster clinches race win by 0.065s at the line

Liam Foster has won Race 14 of the 2020-21 Hi-Q Components NZ Formula First Championship at Hampton Downs. Foster won a drag race to the flag between himself, Leo Scott and Brody McConkey.

Foster and Scott broke away from the field on the opening lap of the race and traded blows until McConkey managed to break away from his early battles to catch the duo on the penultimate lap. Scott led the race out of the final corner but was a sitting duck for both Foster and McConkey who drove past him with the draft.

McConkey would finish second, just 0.065s shy of the win with Scott a further three-tenths of a second.

Coming home fourth was Zac Blincoe who battled with Chris Symon for the majority of the race. Symon’s fifth-place helped extended Foster’s recently acquired championship lead.

Amy Smith finished in sixth ahead of the rookie battle duo of Hayden Bakkerus and Louis Sharp. Rounding out the top ten was Mason Potter and Dylan Grant in ninth and tenth respectively.

Next was Toby McCormack in 11th, Jensen Foster 12th, Bob Dillow 13th and David Scammell 14th. Jamie Newton and Liam Nicholson rounded out the field in 15th and 16th.
