Hendl-Cox wins another tight race marred by massive crash

Reece Hendl-Cox has won race eight of the Hi-Q Components NZ Championship in another super close finish at Pukekohe Park. Liam Foster came home second just 0.038s behind Hendl-Cox with Chris Symon in third, 0.016s from Foster. Amy Smith came home fourth o.047s from Symon.

In the next battle pack, Asten Addy, Louis Redshaw, Matthew McCutcheon and Ron Carter all duked it out for the final top five positions. The battle boiled over at the chequered flag when McCutcheon sent around at maximum speed and into the inside concrete barrier.

McCutcheon was able to cross the line, albeit sideways, to finish the race and score crucial championship points. Addy grabbed fifth ahead of Redshaw, McCutcheon and Carter. Despite the damage for McCutcheon’s car being terminal, the Sabre Motorsport team have prepared a spare car for him to use in the final race of the weekend. McCutcheon also escaped uninjured.

Bree Morriss took ninth ahead of Liam Nicholson in tenth. Leo Scott and Kyan Davie rounded out the field.
