PREVIEW: Round 7

The penultimate round of the 2016/17 Hi-Q Components NZ Formula First Championship has fast approached us, taking place at Hampton Downs this weekend. With just 32 points separating the top three championship contenders we are set for some intense racing at this great little race track.

Bramwell King was the man to beat last round, also contested at a wet Hampton Downs, and with rain forecasted for Saturday and Sunday will his momentum and wet weather prowess prove too much for rivals Arran Crighton and Matt Podjursky?

Crighton’s early season dominance and late-season consistency have so far proven hard to beat in the championship points but with just six races remaining in the championship, it will be on for young and old this weekend!

While Reece Hendl-Cox has not mathematically sealed the Rookie Championship, it would take a mammoth effort by Kaleb Ngatoa to claw back the 155 point deficit across the remaining two rounds. With that said, Hendl-Cox will be shifting his focus to moving up to fourth, as he currently trails Chris Symon by 77 points.

Qualifying and race one take place on Saturday with a further two races on Sunday. Tickets can be purchased online or at the gate. Adults $10 with Kids 12 and under free!
